Fock space ground state of superfluid

WebAbstract. We define the “BEC state” to be the many-body wavefunction where all particles are in the same one-body state. Using an argument analogous to Anderson’s Orthogonality Catastrophe, we argue that for interacting particles the amplitude of the BEC state within the many-body wavefunction goes to zero in the thermodynamic limit. WebA multi-particle quantum state is represented in what is known as Fock space, named after Vladimir Fock (1898 - 1974), a Soviet physicist. A state in Fock space is written using the usual ket notation as multi-particle Fock state jp 1;pp 2;:::;pp ni (8) where there are nparticles with the momenta given in the ket.

WebJun 13, 2024 · Outside of the “halos” found in the immediate vicinity of galaxies, the pull of gravity is weaker, and dark matter wouldn’t be packed together tightly enough to go into its superfluid state. It would act as dark matter ordinarily does, explaining what astronomers see at larger scales. But what’s so special about having dark matter be a superfluid? Webminimizes the energy is then used as an approximation for the true ground-state. How good this approximation is depends, of course, on how skilled we are in making a judicious choice for the form of the trial wavefunctions. Note: I am talking about Hilbert spaces (as opposed to the full Fock space) because the way the WebJan 15, 2024 · In a modern ab initio electronic structure calculation on a closed shell molecule, the electronic Hamiltonian is used with a single determinant wavefunction. WebNote that for a finite set of Mmodes the fermionic Hilbert space has a finite dimension 2M. This fact is important for understanding the ground state degeneracies of fermionic fields in some non-trivial backgrounds that have zero-energy fermionic modes: For Mzero modes, the ground level of the whole QFT has 2M degenerate states. WebAnalogue gravity can be used to reproduce the phenomenology of quantum field theory in curved spacetime and in particular phenomena such as cosmological particle creation and Hawking radiation. In black hole physics, taking into account the backreaction of such effects on the metric requires an extension to semiclassical gravity and leads to an apparent … WebThe most general Fock state is a linear superposition of pure states. Two operators of great importance are the creation and annihilation operators, which upon acting on a Fock state add or respectively remove a particle in the ascribed quantum state. They are denoted for creation and for annihilation respectively.
